Target population includes
• People with disabilities.
• People who are at risk of premature or inappropriate institutionalisation.
• Carers (may travel with clients at no cost).
• Those who are isolated from mainstream transport.
• People who are vulnerable or at risk.
• People from culturally distinct communities.
• Those who are financially disadvantaged.

Referral
An individual can self-refer or be referred by an agency. A client information form must be completed and assessed and it is determined whether the client is eligible.

Services Provided
The services that are provided include transport for shopping, recreational activities, medical and therapy appointments.

Opening Hours
Monday to Friday 9:00am – 5:00pm

Cost of service
Service users are charged at a fee appropriate to the transport type, costs and time taken.


 

Isolated Patients’ Travel and Accommodation Assistance Scheme (IPTAAS)

IPTAAS Application Form

Target population
People living in isolated and remote communities in NSW, who need to travel long distances to obtain specialist medical treatment not available locally.

Eligibility
To be eligible for assistance under NSW IPTAAS you must:
• be a permanent resident of New South Wales
• usually live more than 200km one way from the nearest treating specialist
• be referred by a medical practitioner to the nearest treating specialist for specialist treatment
• claim the maximum available benefits from your private health fund first
• not be eligible for any assistance under any other government assistance scheme

NSW IPTAAS Forms are available from doctors’ surgeries, hospital social workers, IPTAAS offices or from: http://www.health.nsw.gov.au/living/transport/iptaas.html
Application forms can be lodged at the IPTAAS office.

Travel assistance, accommodation assistance and escort assistance.

Monday to Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm

Cost of Service
NSW IPTAAS is not a full reimbursement Scheme and a personal contribution of $40 ($20 for pensioners or Health Care Card holders) for each individual is deducted from the total benefits payable per claim.
